In most of the state of New York on Tuesday April 19th, the polls will be open from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 PM. In New York City and the counties of Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam and Erie, the polls open at 6:00 AM.
I understand that employers must give one 2 hours of paid leave to vote if one does not have 4 contiguous hours before or after one’s shift while the polls are open to vote. You must advise them 2 days in advance that you are going to need time off, but some will waive that requirement.
If one is not going to be in town on Tuesday, or is caring for an invalid then one may vote in-person absentee at the county elections office.
